I've got a long mental list of books I want to read this sem-break. My only worry is if I've got enough time - not to mention, money - to read (and buy) them. Anyhow, I'm posting some of my favourite discoveries in here just in case I forget them.
Chopsticks
Jessica Anthony and Rodrigo Corral
Book Description
"Glory is a piano prodigy.
After her mother died, she retreated into her music. Her father raised her with the goal of playing sold out shows at Carnegie Hall and across the globe. Brilliant and lonely, Glory is drawn to Frank, who moves in next door. She loses herself in his paintings and drawings, mix CD’s and late-night IM conversations. Soon, Frank becomes both her connection to the world--and her escape from reality.
Before long, Glory is unable to play anything but the song “Chopsticks”; F and G notes moving closer together, and farther apart.
Now, Glory has disappeared. But nothing is what it seems. And we must decide what is real, what is imagined, and what has been madness all along."

What Drew Me To It
Chopsticks is not your ordinary novel. The whole story is told through photographs, letters, messages, and just bits and pieces from the characters' lives. It's such a pure beauty that you just want to flip through the pages to admire the photos and the story itself.

The Charm Bracelet
Book Description
"Holly O'Neill knows that every charm bracelet tells a story. Many years ago she was sent one with just a single charm attached. The charms have been appearing ever since, often at challenging times, as if her mysterious benefactor knows exactly when she needs a little magic in her life. As a result, Holly's bracelet is her most prized possession. So when she finds someone else's charm bracelet, she feels she has to try to reunite it with its owner. Even if the only way she can is to use each charm to help discover more about them. In a search that will take her all over New York City at Christmas, Holly becomes ever more determined to piece together the details of this other charmed life. But what she doesn't know is that her quest may also lead her somewhere she never, ever expected..."

What Drew Me To It
The mystery of the story is good enough to catch my attention, and the feel of the book is similar to that of Cecelia Ahern's or Sarah Addison Allen's.

Before I Go To Sleep
S.J. Watson
Book Description
"'As I sleep, my mind will erase everything I did today. I will wake up tomorrow as I did this morning. Thinking I'm still a child. Thinking I have a whole lifetime of choice ahead of me ...' Memories define us. So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep? Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love - all forgotten overnight. And the one person you trust may only be telling you half the story. Welcome to Christine's life."

What Drew Me To It
I first encountered this book when my friends and I were looking for a birthday present for our bookworm Joan. And considering its blurb, I was very certain that the main character is suffering from anterograde amnesia, a medical case I've always been curious about.

The Pigman
Paul Zindel
Book Description
"When sophomores John and Lorraine played a practical joke a few months ago on a stranger named Angelo Pignati, they had no idea what they were starting. Virtually overnight, almost against their will, the two befriended the lonely old man; it wasn't long before they were more comfortable in his house than their own. But now Mr. Pignati is dead. And for John and Lorraine, the only way to find peace is to write down their friend's story #151; the story of the Pigman."

What Drew Me To It
I'm not sure if this is the book my friend Felis got her "Psychological Test" which she tried on me way back in high school (what? she said "The Pigman"). But even though this is not the book she's referring to, I'd love to read this one. It's a classic and it looks really good.

Time of My Life
Cecelia Ahern
Book Description
"The stunning and magical new novel from the Number One bestselling author of PS, I Love You
From the author of tear-jerker PS, I Love You comes another unputdownable read.
Lying on Lucy Silchester’s carpet one day when she returns from work is a gold envelope. Inside is an invitation – to a meeting with Life. Her life. It turns out she's been ignoring it and it needs to meet with her face to face.
It sounds peculiar, but Lucy’s read about this in a magazine. Anyway, she can’t make the date: she’s much too busy dodging her job, skipping out on her friends and avoiding her family.
But Lucy’s life isn’t what it seems. Some of the choices she’s made – and stories she’s told – aren’t what they seem either. From the moment she meets the man who introduces himself as her life, her stubborn half-truths are going to be revealed in all their glory – unless Lucy learns to tell the truth about what really matters to her."
Lucy Silchester has an appointment with her life – and she’s going to have to keep it.
Touching, warm, funny and poignant, Cecelia Ahern's new novel explores what happens when you stop paying attention to your life."

What Drew Me To It
I love Cecelia Ahern. She's just so descriptive in the way she tells her stories that you feel a part of the whole of it as you read, and that's what I look for in an author and in a book - they have to be really engaging. Having said that, I'm confident that "The Time of My Life" won't upset my expectations.
