To those who haven't decided on their costumes yet, here are some looks you might consider wearing, whether it's for trick or treating, partying, or just for fun.
Bellatrix Lestrange
Makeup: Keep face pale with powder or some foundation. Use different shades of brown shadow for the eyelids and a darker shade below the eyes. For the lips, you can never go wrong with burgundy lipstick.
Hair: Crimp and tease for the messy look.
The Garb: A gothic black dress with straps and laces will do. If you don't have such, you can always strip down an old black dress you won't use anymore along the sleeves, and sew them loosely with a fairly thick black string. For the shoes, wear high-heeled boots
If you want to wear Bellatrix's signature bird skull jewellery, don't worry 'cos you can buy replicas an economical deal, go to ebay.com! They're as good as the real thing!
Prop: Her bent wand that you can brandish around, and threaten people with.
Hermione Granger/Ginny Weasley/Luna Lovegood
Makeup: Keep it simple! Just a little powder, blush, and gloss will work out fine.
Hair: For Hermione (dirty blonde, bushy), part hair on the side and curl. Mess it up a bit, and then place a bobby pin on both sides for a bushy-but-neat look.
For Ginny (red, shoulder-length), part hair on the side and iron to keep it straight. Wear a brown crocheted hairband.
For Luna (almost-white blonde, long), part hair on the side and curl. Fix into a side ponytail.
The Garb: For Hermione and Ginny, you will need the famous Hogwarts uniform which you can buy online or rent in costume shops as a set.
If you want to spend less or nothing at all, you can always go for a black cloak, white blouse, knitted grey sweatshirt, grey skirt, black stockings and school shoes.
*Ginny's shoes must look worn out and dusty.
For Luna, who has a distinctive fashion sense, you can wear a printed blouse with a tweed blazer and a skirt. The costume department of the Harry Potter films want Luna to have a childish arts-and-crafts look to suit the eccentric personality she has in the books.
For her jewellery, you can fashion a butterbeer cork necklace with light blue seed beads and a tiny cork. And for her radish earrings... here's the how-to: Luna Lovegood Earrings
Props: A wand! And for Luna's spectrespecs, here's a template from diyfashion.about.com
Nerd Herd Chic Uniform
Makeup: Wear natural colours that will make you look fresh, like Yvonne Strahovski here :)
Hair: Let it down, tie it up - whatever! Just make sure you look sexy!
The Garb: Female Nerd Herders like Anna and Hannah are sexy Buy More icons, however, Sarah's Nerd Herd cover just looked so much better and sexier. Wear a short white blouse, a black mini skirt, a grey neck tie, and a pair of your sexiest high-heeled shoes or boots.
Prop: A case.
Rachel Berry
Makeup: Some powder, light eye shadow, blush, eyeliner, and gloss will do. You're going for a prepster look here - not a clown.
Hair: Part hair somewhere in the middle, and keep tresses bouncy with some mousse.
The Garb: Rachel is Glee's resident skirt-lover, so she always opts for mini skirts with pleats. For her top, she usually wears a blouse with a cardigan or a knitted sweater. Wear leg warmers or knee socks with Oxfords.
Prop: Perhaps a huge shiny gold star to carry around?

Kathy Beth Terry
Makeup: After Rebecca Black did her Friday magic to Kathy Beth Terry, the sudoku-loving geek turned into a neon-wearing hottie. Use bright shadows to blend on eyelids. Apply some pink blush on cheeks, and Barbie-pink lipstick on lips. Finish with lipgloss for extra-shine.
Hair: Crimp and tease, making it look afro-ish. Use some CFC-free hairspray to hold.
The Garb: A bright pink short fit sweatshirt/leotard and a neon green miniskirt replaced Kathy's old pink long-sleeved shirt and blue vest. Slip your feet into contrasting coloured-heels. For the accessories, wear a jelly neon green belt, a few colourful plastic bangles, bright triangular dangling earrings, and paint nails with light pink and green lacquer.
