The only thing that made it stand out was its artsy gate. Apart from that, the house at 10A Alabama wouldn't look any different from the other homes that lined the street.
If it weren't for our need to cover an art story for our website (a requirement for our IT class) and Joan's knowledge of such events, I wouldn't learn about 10A Alabama Handmade Arts and Crafts Fair, which would be such a pity on my part, because it's something I and anybody with the love for art and a heart for independent artists wouldn't like to miss. So last Saturday, Joan, Kai, and I headed to Alabama Street in Quezon City to see the fair ourselves and pick up a story to write.
Held at a furniture workshop about thrice a year, the 10A Alabama art fair is an informal event for artists and fans of art alike to come together, buy or sell items, share ideas, and of course, make some friends. It's actually refreshing to be in a place where you don't really know anybody, but feel connected with them, because you have the same passion for something - in this case, art.
From paper goods to paintings to perfumes and soaps, it took me, Joan, and Kai hours and hours to simply admire the items being sold at the fair. And mind you, the space isn't that big at all! We just liked looking around and buying some stuff our meager budget could afford. Haha!
And because I was the one in charge of documenting our coverage, I had a ton of photos to show my parents, who, like me, are big lovers of art. They liked what they saw in the pictures, so yesterday, I accompanied them to the fair.
At the end of the day, we had new pieces of ceramic jewellery, leather goods, magnets, and whatnot.

| My favourite finds: a Japanese ceramic bead bracelet and a charm bracelet (OK, I love bracelets). The leather bracelet's not from the fair, though... Got it from my Bratislava trip, and check out my watch - I still haven't changed it into the standard Philippine time. Haha! |
