Easy Recipe: Chili-Parmesan Shrimp Skillet

I came across this recipe earlier today, and it totally stuck in my head. So I thought my mum and I should make our own version of it for dinner, and guess what? It turned out really well!

Although it took us only a few ingredients to make this dish, it burst of sweet, savory, and spicy flavours here and there without overwhelming our taste buds, which is great! It's also super easy to cook - perfect for everyone who doesn't want to cook complicated dishes on a simple evening.

Chili-Parmesan Shrimp Skillet
(adapted from the blog How Sweet It Is)

1 pound raw peeled and de-veined shrimp

1/3 cup olive oil

1/4 cup parmesan cheese

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons brown sugar

2 teaspoons soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instead of penne, we used capellini or "angel hair" pasta

~ ~ ~

1. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, parmesan, minced garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, and the red pepper flakes.

2. Add the shrimp in a Ziploc bag, and pour the sauce in. Seal and shake.

3. Refrigerate your marinade for 30 minutes (or for as long a you wish, so the flavours could really seep into the shrimps).

4. Cook your pasta.

5. Dump the contents of the Ziploc bag into a pan, and cook until shrimps turn pink.

6. In low heat, add your pasta, and toss.

7. Serve and enjoy!

Nail Art Tutorial: Textured Nails

It's been a while since I last painted my nails. I knew that my nails needed to breathe after my months-long nail art challenge, because even though I love how nail polish makes my tips look pretty, I know that applying nail lacquer every few days isn't really a healthy thing to do.

Anyway, after trimming and treating my nails, I wanted to try something new. Something simple and easy that wouldn't take too much of my time, so I decided to try different textures on my (super short) nails. Although I don't have grainy or sandy polish at the moment, I am really happy with this orange glossy-matte-and-glittery combo.

Textured Nails

What you need:

-Tape
-Various nail lacquers that come in different textures.
(I used plain orange, glittery orange, a glossy top coat, and a matte top coat.)

What to do:

1. Start with a plain base, brush a glossy top coat, and let your nails dry completely.

2. Cut a tiny piece of tape, and position it on your nail according to how you want your design to look.

3. Brush a layer of your textured polish on the exposed part of your nail away from the tape (follow the arrows). I chose to brush the matte top coat first.

5. Carefully peel off the tape.

6. Position another piece of tape on your nail, avoiding the part you just painted over.

7. Brush another layer of textured polish away from the tape, carefully avoiding the previously painted part of your nail.

8. Carefully peel off the tape, and leave your nails to dry.

Pretty easy, right? :)

SNAPS: Thomasian Global Village

I kind of assumed the role of an unofficial photographer during AIESEC-UST's very first mini Global Village (GV) held last Wednesday. I knew the other AIESECers would be super busy, so I figured, perhaps, I could help them at the moment by documenting the event. After all, I like staying behind the lens and taking photos. Haha! And, since I'm not a fan of Facebook's crappy photo album feature, I'm including in this post some of the "best" shots from the GV.

How was the event, you ask? Well, it exceeded my expectations. In fact, think it exceeded everyone's expectations.

Sure, it wasn't set in a glamorous venue, nor did we have state-of-the-art props and shizz, but everybody seemed to be having fun, while learning about different cultures at the same time, and that's all that mattered. So, kudos to AIESEC-UST, especially to the Organising Committee (We love you, OC! We do! ♥) and to the EPs, as well as some UST international students, who put up really interesting booths (with the least resources available and in the shortest time possible) and warmly interacted with the students who dropped by.

Thijmen from Holland

Cheuky from Hong Kong

Marin from Japan

Mana from Japan

Jennifer from Indonesia

Peppi from Finland

Of course, we have a booth, too!

Marshmallow relay!!!

What's an AIESEC event without AIESEC dances?

I helped Peppi put up her booth, since she didn't have much items with her -
I loved the Salmiakki, though! :D

The participants also paraded their national costumes :)

Random snaps from the first Thomasian Global Village - yay!

*NOTE: Can't find the photo you've been looking for? Maybe, it's in my OTHER POST. Still can't find what you're looking for? Drop me a message (jump to Reach Me), and I'll look into my files again then I'll send you the photo/s if I find it/them. Please understand that I couldn't upload every single photograph I took at the event, so I just chose to publish the "best" shots and the pictures people requested me to take.
